Protecting our Planet
The science is clear: we have a short time to make an impact in mitigating the effects of the climate crisis. Never has the need been so great and the time been so short to create change. We aim to invest the full amount of funds available to us with all multi-year grants completing by 2030. As an engaged and knowledgeable trust we commit to strengthening our impact by using all resources available to us beyond the money we invest.
Keeping fossil fuels in the ground
The major driver of the climate emergency is our continued extraction and burning of fossil fuels. It is clear that the Global North must transition to renewable sources of energy immediately and we support those who are actively addressing the issue.

Building strong and diverse public engagement
To truly address the biggest crisis of our times, everything needs to change and to change everything we need everyone. We support those mobilising and enabling citizens from all walks of life, as a force for change.

Working for a socially just transition
To ensure we transition away from fossil fuels in a fair way that improves social justice we need creative minds and approaches, and for everyone to be included. We back under-supported and emerging ideas from across society that are working to reimagine and build a greener and fairer future for all.

Gower Street believe nature is integral to everything, we see current threats to it both within and outside the environmental movement. We are choosing to take the view of understanding Rights of Nature (RoN) in all internal decision-making processes and want to go beyond that to promote the concept into our fields of influence. We will develop action plans for how we do it over the lifespan of Gower Street and we commit to sharing our learnings as we go.
